A leading banking group is seeking a 2-5PQE general finance lawyer with expertise in trade finance to join its London based team. This role is ideal for a legal professional looking to broaden their expertise beyond one area of financing and gain exposure to a diverse range of legal matters.

You will provide expert advice on a range of finance and non-finance matters, supporting the bank’s lending activities across multiple jurisdictions. This is a fantastic opportunity to report into the executive committee and engage with senior stakeholders across the business and play a strategic role in the bank’s growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising on finance transactions including project financing, trade and receivables financing, supply contract reviews, ISDAs, GMRAs and NDAs.
  • Advising on commercial law, corporate governance etc.
  • Managing legal risk and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating bank standard form loan agreements, security documents, and related financing instruments and reviewing the underlying due diligence reports.
  • Collaborating closely with the treasury, business, credit, risk, and product teams to support business objectives.
  • Horizon scanning to monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments.
  • Managing relationships with external counsel when required.
The Successful Candidate
  • Qualified solicitor (UK or equivalent) with 2-5 years' PQE.
  • Background in a leading law firm or in-house at a financial institution.
  • Commercially minded with excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must be willing to learn and adapt to working in the specific areas outlined above and any other lending products or areas the bank expands into.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.

Please note that candidates with the relevant experience outside of the above mentioned PQE level would be considered for this position.
