Job Description

Our client, a global leader in the live entertainment industry, is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel (could be VP level for more senior candidates) to join their in-house legal team in London. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the development and expansion of venue assets across the EMEA region, working on high-profile, multi-million-pound projects that shape the future of live entertainment.

About the Role

As a key member of the legal team, you will support the company’s venue development projects, ranging from small-scale venues to large, multi-functional arenas. Reporting to the SVP Legal – Corporate, you will work closely with venue development, M&A, and finance teams to deliver projects from inception to completion. This role offers the chance to lead complex legal processes, manage external counsel, and ensure seamless coordination across multiple jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support for all venue development activities, including construction, acquisitions, and refurbishments.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of project-related agreements, such as consultant appointments, contractor agreements, and planning/zoning documents.
  • Act as the central point of contact for external counsel, managing budgets, workloads, and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to deliver projects on time and within budget, ensuring consistency and best practices across jurisdictions.
  • Support merger clearance activities and resolve disputes or regulatory issues as they arise.
  • Provide legal guidance on multi-jurisdictional projects, adapting to diverse legal systems and procurement processes.
  • Maintain regular project updates and reporting for internal stakeholders.

About You

  • Qualified lawyer, entitled to practise in the UK, Ireland, or another European jurisdiction.
  • Likely 8+ years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in construction, real estate, project, or development law (in-house or private practice backgrounds considered).
  • Proven experience managing large-scale development or construction projects, with knowledge of public procurement processes being advantageous.
  • Comfortable working independently, leading complex legal workstreams, and advising senior management/C-level stakeholders.
  • Multi-jurisdictional or cross-border experience is highly desirable, with the ability to adapt to varied legal systems.
  • Strong organisational skills, with a track record of delivering multiple projects on time and to a high standard.
  • Exposure to construction/development disputes is a plus.
  • Flexible approach to working hours and willingness to travel (1-2 trips per month across the EMEA region).
  • Entertainment industry experience is not required, but an understanding of key revenue drivers for venues is beneficial.

Please note our advertisements use PQE/salary levels purely as a guide. However, we are happy to consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary to fulfil the role. Please note that your personal information will be treated in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
