We’re working with a high‑growth, PE‑backed SaaS business operating in the financial services space, looking to appoint an Interim Senior Legal Counsel/Head of Legal on a part‑time basis. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the legal function within a scaling, commercially driven business. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to support growth, improve processes, and embed legal more deeply into the business.
The Role
- Act as the lead lawyer, operating in a standalone capacity while managing a junior team member and working closely with Sales and senior leadership.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the legal function on an interim basis
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and SaaS contracts
- Supporting sales processes and deal negotiations
- Developing and improving contract templates and frameworks
- Acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders
- Managing and mentoring a paralegal
- Liaising with external counsel where required
- Supporting the continued build‑out of the legal function
Candidate Profile
- UK qualified lawyer with c.8+ PQE (flexible)
- Strong experience in commercial / technology contracting
- Background in SaaS, fintech, or high‑growth tech environments
- Comfortable operating in a lean, standalone role
- Commercial, pragmatic, and able to work at pace
- Confident partnering with sales and business stakeholders
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
Duration: 6 months
Location: Hybrid – c.2 days per week in the London office (Canary Wharf)
