A leading Insurance Company is looking to appoint an Underwriting Legal Counsel in London on a 6-month contract. There is potential for this role to become permanent. This is an exciting opportunity to join a market leader and make a valuable contribution to the successful functioning of the legal team.
This role is central to supporting the negotiation, structuring, and execution of a wide range of complex and bespoke (re)insurance transactions, particularly those at the intersection of insurance and capital markets. The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders to deliver high-quality legal solutions in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
Duties will include:
- Provide strategic legal leadership and oversight across all underwriting-related transactions, including:
- Funded and unfunded regulatory capital relief deals
- Structured credit transactions
- Asset-backed non-payment insurance across multiple asset classes
You will be a qualified Lawyer with demonstrable transactional experience in insurance and/or structured finance, with a track record of leading complex underwriting transactions. It is essential to be able to demonstrate a pragmatic solutions-based counsel and strong relationship building skills combined with excellent communication skills. You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, acting with a degree of independence whilst being part of a supportive and collegiate culture. You must have the flexibility and drive to support a multidisciplinary team with a solutions-based attitude. Experience working in the Insurance industry is essential.
