Taylor Root is working with a not-for-profit industry body that represents the UK motor sector. The organisation has a data intelligence division within the business and is looking for a Legal Counsel to join the legal team to primarily support this part of the organisation. This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract and requires 3 days per week in an office near Victoria in Central London. Reporting into the Head of Legal, this is a broad role where you will have autonomy.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the end-to-end contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, negotiating and approving commercial agreements
- Providing commercial legal advice on data licensing and data-led products, supplier and customer contracts, and sales and commercial queries
- Supporting the launch of new data products and services
- Working closely with internal stakeholders to resolve legal issues quickly and pragmatically
- Maintaining awareness of relevant legal and regulatory developments, particularly in data, technology and the wider industry sector
- Contributing to legal updates, briefings and working groups across the organisation
- Providing broader support across areas such as data protection, compliance, IP, litigation, and procurement when required
Profile required:
- UK qualified solicitor, or common-law qualified with at least 2 years’ PQE
- Experience including familiarity with IT/IP law, competition law, and data privacy law
- Strong drafting and negotiating skills
- Excellent communication skills and ability to be a self-starter
