Taylor Root is working with a national distributor and merchant of building products. They\’re looking to take on an Interim Senior Legal Counsel, who can be with them from October for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.
This is a role which is providing general corporate and commercial legal support across the UK business. Responsibilities will include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial contracts;
- Developing contract templates and policy documents and keeping these up to date;
- Providing timely and accurate legal advice and support to the business on a range of matters, including liaising with colleagues from other functions within the UK business such as IT, Finance, Property, HR and claims management;
- Ensuring T&Cs are reviewed and are aligned throughout the business;
- Managing a number of contentious matters, including liaising with external counsel;
- Identifying risk to the appropriate internal stakeholders and proactively helping to manage and mitigate that risk;
- Assisting other functional leads in maintaining legislative and regulatory compliance throughout the various business units, including construction products, data protection, health and safety, business ethics, and anti-corruption and bribery;
- Keeping up to date with changes to law and regulation, conducting research into these changes, and communicating any relevant requirements to the business;
- Maintaining strong working relationships with stakeholders;
- Maintaining the UK’s register of trademarks;
- Liaising with insurers
Key Requirements:
- UK qualified solicitor, or solicitor qualified in another common-law jurisdiction
- Ideally, at least 5+ PQE
- Any experience within the building space would be useful but not essential
- Confidence in dealing with a broad range of issues
- Excellent drafting skills and experience
- Collaborative approach
- Strong stakeholder management skills
