Our Client:
An established, founder led insurance business is seeking General Counsel, to join at a strategic level, reporting directly to the CEO and collaborating closely with the C-suite.
This global business is looking to scale significantly in the next few years, making it an exciting time to join.
The ideal candidate will be either coming from a start up/scaleup/ high growth business or from a traditional corporate business but looking to pivot into a more entrepreneurial, fast paced and dynamic environment.
Offers a lot of flexibility in terms of office presence, with this role being largely remote for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
This individual will bring in a wide range of legal expertise across corporate, commercial, governance, and legal risk management.
As their GC, your responsibilities will include:
- Provide strategic legal advice across corporate, commercial law, strategic partnerships, and day-to-day operations.
- Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risk across jurisdictions, and manage disputes and litigation with external counsel.
- Support high-impact business initiatives like M&A and international growth, while delivering clear, commercially focused legal guidance to senior leadership.
- Oversee legal support for company secretarial matters looking at board and shareholder matters, including drafting resolutions, managing filings, and ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10-18 years\' PQE as a lawyer in private practice or in-house in an insurance, fintech, tech or financial services legal team.*
- The ideal candidate will be either coming from a start up/scaleup/ high growth business or from a traditional corporate business but looking to pivot into a more entrepreneurial, fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong negotiation skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- A commercial mindset, focused on delivering pragmatic, business-oriented legal solutions.
