A highly-regarded and global insurance and reinsurance company is seeking a legal counsel to join their well-established and collaborative legal team to support their UK and international underwriting business. The role will be broad covering insurance advisory, agreements including distribution and terms of business and regulatory matters across various commercial business lines including property, casualty and property. As well as supporting the underwriting business, you will have the opportunity to broaden your skill set into new areas across the legal team providing you with new challenges every day.
Our client will consider lawyers from any insurance background including contentious, non-contentious or claims, as well as overseas qualified lawyers such as Australian, New Zealand, South African and other jurisdictions. The focus is on bringing someone with a strong insurance grounding and the right cultural fit. Responsibilities:- Provide insurance advisory and contractual support across underwriting and risk management functions.
- Draft, review and negotiate distribution agreements, terms of business and regulatory documents for various commercial lines.
- Support the underwriting business and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address new legal challenges.
- Qualified lawyer with experience in insurance law; can come from contentious, non-contentious or claims backgrounds.
- Open to overseas qualified lawyers (e.g., Australian, New Zealand, South African, etc.).
- Strong grounding in insurance principles and a cultural fit with the company's supportive, down-to-earth environment.
