Our client, a highly regarded UK law firm with a strong national presence, is looking to recruit an Associate or Senior Associate to join its growing Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice. This role sits within a well‑established commercial and regulatory team and offers the opportunity to work closely with partners who are recognised for advising on complex, high‑profile data and technology matters. The team advises a broad client base spanning financial services, retail and fashion, health and life sciences, tech and public sectors.
The Role
The successful candidate will advise on a wide range of UK and EU data protection and cybersecurity matters. Work will include:
- Advising on GDPR, UK data protection law and related regulatory frameworks
- Leading and supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments, transfer risk assessments and wider compliance programmes
- Drafting and negotiating data‑related commercial agreements
- Managing complex DSARs and automated decision‑making requests
- Advising on data protection issues linked to emerging technologies, including AI and biometrics
- Supporting clients in response to data breaches and cyber incidents
- Advising on international data transfers and cross‑border compliance projects
Senior lawyers will play an active role in supervising and mentoring junior team members. Associates at all levels are given the autonomy and support to develop their own profiles and client relationships, while contributing meaningfully to the evolution of the team’s technical expertise and market positioning.
Candidate Profile
This role is suited to candidates with at least 2 years’ PQE who can demonstrate:
- Deep, up‑to‑date knowledge of UK and EU data protection and related digital regulation
- Strong drafting, analytical and stakeholder‑management skills
- An interest in AI regulation and the interaction between data law and broader digital legislation
