Taylor Root is partnering with an elite US law firm to recruit a Junior Associate (1β3 PQE) into its Tier 1 Financial Restructuring practice in London. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a high-performing restructuring group of roughly 20β25 lawyers in London, evenly split across partners, senior lawyers and associates. The team is known for its technical depth, creditor-side strength and involvement in some of the most complex restructurings in the European market.
The Role
You will work across a broad range of restructuring and special situations matters, with a strong focus on creditor-side mandates, including ad-hoc groups, lenders and institutional investors. The team operates with substantial autonomy from its US counterparts, meaning that the London practice does not typically handle Chapter 11 matters. Instead, you will gain significant exposure to UK and European processes such as:
- Schemes of arrangement
- Part 26A restructuring plans (a particularly active area for the team recently)
- Distressed financings and liability-management transactions
- Cross-border restructurings involving complex capital structures
- Insolvency-related advisory work
You will take on significant responsibility early, including drafting and negotiating key documents, managing workstreams on fast-moving multi-jurisdictional matters and coordinating with stakeholders across the capital structure.
Key Requirements
- 1β3 PQE with experience in restructuring and/or special situations
- Excellent drafting and communication skills
- Proactive, collaborative attitude and willingness to take ownership of workstreams
- Enthusiasm for creditor-side work and UK restructuring processes
Whatβs on Offer
A Tier 1 restructuring team within a world-class US platform, offering exceptional technical training, direct exposure to high-profile mandates, strong career progression, a tight-knit team environment and highly competitive US-scale compensation. If you are a junior restructuring lawyer looking to accelerate your career within a truly elite practice, we would be delighted to speak with you.
