A global, complex and highly regulated FMCG business is seeking an experienced UK Employment Counsel to join its in‑house legal team. This is a broad and influential role, partnering closely with senior stakeholders and the People function, covering the full spectrum of UK employment law. The position offers high visibility, autonomy and the opportunity to work on strategic projects within a fast‑moving, international environment.
As Employment Counsel, you will:
- Advise across the entire employment lifecycle, providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice to the business.
- Advise on recruitment, onboarding, performance management, exits and senior employee matters.
- Draft, review and maintain employment contracts, policies, contractor arrangements and related documentation.
- Manage Employment Tribunal claims and pre‑action disputes, including strategy, negotiation and settlement.
- Monitor legislative developments and deliver training to HR and business stakeholders.
- Advise on employee data privacy matters, including DSARs.
- Work closely with senior leaders, HR and external counsel.
- Support wider legal and commercial initiatives, including employment aspects of commercial contracts.
Requirements:
- UK‑qualified solicitor with 4+ years’ PQE in employment law.
- Experience gained in private practice and/or in‑house.
- Curious and forward‑thinking, with an interest in improving legal processes and using legal technology.
- Exposure to senior stakeholders and strategic projects.
- Hybrid working with a London base.
- Supportive legal team with scope for development and progression.
