Our client, a leading tier‑one US law firm in the City is seeking an experienced Corporate M&A / Private Equity Knowledge Lawyer to join its market‑leading practice on a ‑month fixed‑term contract to cover maternity leave. This is a rare opportunity to join one of the most prestigious and high‑performing PE/M&A teams in London, supporting a sophisticated knowledge function that is arguably at the top end of the market.
You will join an impressive team, plus an additional specialist responsible for the firm’s proprietary global M&A/PE database. The incoming hire will benefit from a planned handover period, with the role commencing in April or May.
The Role
- As a Knowledge Lawyer within the London Private Equity / M&A group, you will work closely with the Knowledge Management leadership to drive the full spectrum of the team’s KM strategy, including:
- Knowhow management – collating, curating and disseminating high‑value content across the group.
- Precedent development – updating and enhancing model documents to reflect best‑in‑class market practice and technological advancements.
- Current awareness – monitoring legal and regulatory developments, issuing digestible updates, and maintaining core technical resources.
- Training & development – contributing to the PE/M&A training programme, including materials updates, delivery of internal sessions (including the trainee programme), and involvement in client‑facing presentations and decks.
- Technical support – providing fee‑earners with clear, authoritative guidance on complex corporate/M&A and private equity queries.
This is a highly visible role at the heart of a globally recognised Corporate practice, offering exposure to cutting‑edge transactional trends and knowledge innovation.
About You:
- A UK‑qualified solicitor, ideally 5+ years’ PQE, from a leading City, global, or strong regional corporate practice.
- A solid grounding in Private Equity and/or Private M&A.
- Strong technical excellence, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to distil complex concepts with clarity.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Prior PSL experience is welcome but not essential - this role is equally suitable for a current fee‑earner or in‑house lawyer seeking their first move into a KM/PSL position within a top‑tier transactional team.
- Availability to work ideally 5 days per week on a hybrid basis 4 days a week in the office.
