A newly created, standalone international consumer business is seeking a Global Associate General Counsel – Employment and Labor to join its legal team at a pivotal stage in its evolution. Formed through the spin-out of a major global FMCG group’s Family Care division, the business manages a portfolio of market-leading hygiene and tissue brands alongside professional product lines serving hospitality, commercial, and healthcare environments worldwide. Backed by a major international joint venture and launching as an independent entity, the organisation is undergoing significant transformation, creating a rare opportunity to build and shape core legal capabilities from the ground up.

About the opportunity:

  • Provide strategic employment and labor legal support and guidance to the organisation.
  • Oversee and advise on investigations and provide global leadership and support on employment and labor matters including global projects.
  • Lead a global employment and labor team to drive best practices across the entire global legal organisation.

About you:

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 PQE, having trained in a top UK law firm or in-house at a leading multi-national.
  • Substantial experience in a broad range of employment and labor legal matters.
  • Comfortable working in a global environment on projects involving professionals from around the world.
  • Ability to direct and manage activities of, and relationships with, outside counsel.
  • Vision and experience in strategic initiatives beyond tactical implementation.
  • Ability to balance legal and business needs, assessing appropriate risk to make tough decisions.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound and independent judgment, prudence, and maturity; ability to act independently and work collaboratively across to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ideally you would have experience of working in a fast-paced in-house environment.
  • This role would suit someone who is commercially astute, pragmatic and who thrives in a collegiate and supportive environment.
