Senior Legal Counsel – 12 month contract

This is a great 12-month FTC for a mid to senior level counsel who might also be open to permanent opportunities moving forward. The client has strong motivations to hire someone permanent later in 2025, and this would be a great opportunity to start as an interim head, being part of a dynamic, well-established, and collegiate legal team. Role responsibilities:

• Supporting the UK&I legal team as a senior commercial lawyer
• Strategic advising, drafting and negotiating various complex commercial contracts, including joint development agreements and master supply and services agreements with key strategic suppliers
• Working closely with Marketing and advertising teams
• Overseeing distribution activities in UK&I, advising on new product launches and deal structuring
• Legal operations optimisation, creating and improving templates
• Competition law advice within the context of commercial contracts (horizontal and vertical agreements, dominance risks)
• Regulatory matters pertaining to the Tobacco industry and risk management

Our client is in the Tobacco and vaping industry and so requires the following experience:

• 5 Years PQE and above ideally
• Experience within FMCG, Pharma, Energy, or other highly regulated/product-based businesses
• Broad commercial experience and experience working with marketing and advertising matters in regulated industries
• Experience within tobacco would be ideal but not essential
• Self-sufficient, confident, and collegiate
• High energy, approachable, and supportive in nature
• Relationship builder and able to partner with the business and be solutions-focused
• Able to adapt to differing volumes and types of in-house workloads and work independently

Salary: up to £95,000 (DOE) + 25%-40% bonus (Dependent on company performance and personal performance)

Working arrangements: 2 days a week in West London offices

Duration of contract: 12 months

Start date: ASAP (early Jan – early Feb target)
