The Opportunity
We’re working with a high‑growth, PE‑backed SaaS business operating in the financial services space, looking to appoint an Interim Senior Legal Counsel/Head of Legal on a part‑time basis. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the legal function within a scaling, commercially driven business. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders to support growth, improve processes, and embed legal more deeply into the business.
The Role
You will act as the lead lawyer, operating in a standalone capacity while managing a junior team member and working closely with Sales and senior leadership. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the legal function on an interim basis
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and SaaS contracts
- Supporting sales processes and deal negotiations
- Developing and improving contract templates and frameworks
- Acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders
- Managing and mentoring a paralegal
- Liaising with external counsel where required
- Supporting the continued build‑out of the legal function
Candidate Profile
- UK qualified lawyer with c.8+ PQE (flexible)
- Strong experience in commercial / technology contracting
- Background in SaaS, fintech, or high‑growth tech environments
- Comfortable operating in a lean, standalone role
- Commercial, pragmatic, and able to work at pace
- Confident partnering with sales and business stakeholders
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
Key Details
- Duration: 6 months
- Working pattern: 3 days per week
- Location: Hybrid – c.2 days per week in the London office (Canary Wharf)

- Engagement: Open to both FTC and day‑rate
