Our client is seeking a legal counsel to join them for 12 months to cover maternity leave, but there may be longer term prospects. This role will reward individuals with an energetic and positive outlook. Role Purpose
To provide commercial legal support across a range of internal service lines including Asset Services, Occupier Services, Integrated Facilities Management and Project & Development Services, Brokerage & Capital Markets, Consultancy, and Valuation & Advisory, and supporting the Associate General Counsel, EMEA, as well as the broader business and global legal team, where necessary. This role will advise on both contentious and non-contentious matters and will support on M&A and other corporate transactional work.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the business, its people, skill lines, markets, facilities, customers, and competitors and use this knowledge in providing guidance and counsel to the group.
- Facilitate the business objectives for EMEA by providing practical, timely and effective legal support, while minimizing potential legal risks.
- Prepare responses to RFPs, negotiate, draft and finalise commercial client contracts for a wide variety of commercial real estate services.
- Negotiate and draft commercial supply contracts, including licensing, consulting and service agreements.
- Liaise with counsel and business partners globally and manage legal advice from other jurisdictions in relation to international agreements.
- Manage, negotiate and resolve claims and disputes, including coordinating with external counsel and insurers.
- Identify, monitor, research and resolve issues relating to commercial contracts liaising with external partners and senior internal staff as necessary to ensure that risk to the business is minimised.
- Maintain and manage internal controls, governance and processes relating to approval and signing of contracts.
- Prepare material and provide training for commercial teams across the business.
- Development of precedent database.
Qualifications required
- Degree level qualification.
- Qualified Solicitor (UK or common law jurisdiction) with a minimum of 3/4+ years PQE.
Knowledge & Experience
- Experience of drafting contracts, attending meetings and negotiating terms with minimal supervision.
- Negotiation, agreement and drafting skills must be of an exceptional standard.
- Experience of handling and resolving legal disputes.
- Exceptional business and commercial acumen aimed at delivering advice in a fast-paced commercial environment.
- Construction and/or Commercial Real Estate experience is highly desirable.
- Either working in Private Practice seeking an in-house move or currently working in-house for commercial real estate/property/construction focused business.
Skills & Personal Qualities
- Contract knowledge is required to be practical, commercial and current.
- Negotiation and drafting skills must be of an exceptional standard.
- Exceptional business and commercial acumen aimed at delivering advice in a fast-paced commercial environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate and negotiate with internal and external contacts.
- Strong judgement to anticipate and identify areas of risk.
- The ability to work alone as well as collaboratively with colleagues from a non-legal background is required.
- Excellent command of written/verbal English.

Salary
Banding is between £85,000-£100,000 + company benefits. Please note, this will depend highly on PQE level and overall relevant experience.
