A global law firm is seeking a Legal Counsel for a 12-month fixed-term contract to join the Office of General Counsel in their London office. The role will involve advising on contentious issues, including professional indemnity claims, both in the UK and internationally (excluding the US). The position reports to Senior Legal Counsel and collaborates with senior executives, including the Executive Board and Managing Partner.
Key responsibilities include:
- Advising on disputes, professional negligence, regulatory investigations, and other contentious matters.
- Assisting with the management and resolution of claims, liaising with insurers, external lawyers, and other stakeholders.
- Sharing trends and lessons learned within the firm, contributing to training and risk management strategies.
- Managing relationships with external counsel, insurers, brokers, and regulators.
- Developing strategies and policies to reduce exposure to claims.
- Supporting senior team members on various projects.
Ideal candidates will have:
- 0-3 years of PQE, with a background in litigation, preferably within a large law firm or in-house legal department.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Experience in insurance and regulatory matters is preferred.
- A solid understanding of risk, compliance, and strategic thinking.
- The ability to build relationships, manage multiple tasks, and work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
