What does the role involve? The role will include:

  • Advising and assisting private clients on compliance and regulatory matters across a wide range of industries and undertakings, including food, fashion and general retail
  • Interpreting relevant regulations and guidance
  • Supporting the drafting and implementation of compliance policies and procedures
  • Conducting due diligence in corporate transactions
  • Liaising with regulators
  • Advising on civil and criminal enforcement matters
  • Advising and representing clients in relation to product recalls, including trading standards investigations
  • Defending regulatory investigations and prosecutions brought by bodies such as the HSE, Environment Agency, police, local authorities and other regulators, including:
  • Preparing for interviews under caution
  • Liaising with regulators
  • Advising on the strength of evidence and plea
  • Advising in relation to inquests

What technical skills are required?

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience using relevant case management systems
  • Familiarity with online and library-based legal research tools
  • Ability to develop a detailed understanding of systems and procedures, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to clearly explain processes and provide practical advice to clients
