A leading international firm is seeking a Restructuring & Insolvency Associate (2-5 PQE) to join its highly regarded Corporate Restructuring & Insolvency (CRI) team. The group advises on complex domestic and cross‑border mandates, acting for an impressive client base that includes insolvency practitioners, lenders, corporates, directors, investors and other key stakeholders. The team has a strong reputation for its commercial approach, technical depth and ability to handle both solvent and insolvent restructuring situations. The Role
The successful candidate will work across the full lifecycle of restructuring and insolvency matters, with a strong emphasis on non‑contentious work alongside wider exposure. Core responsibilities include:
- Advising on restructuring solutions including refinancings, debt restructures, distressed investments, debt‑for‑equity swaps and distressed M&A.
- Supporting on schemes of arrangement and restructuring plans.
- Providing pre‑formal insolvency advice to directors and companies, including risk assessment and directors’ duties.
- Advising on formal insolvency processes including CVAs, administrations, liquidations and bankruptcies.
- Conducting security reviews on proposed or existing lending structures.
- Supporting strategic acquisitions of distressed businesses or assets.
- Working with insolvency practitioners on enforcement strategies, asset recovery and insolvency‑related investigations.
- Managing matters with increasing autonomy appropriate to PQE level.
- Drafting and negotiating key documentation and supervising junior team members where needed.
- Liaising with clients, counsel, opposing firms and other stakeholders throughout transactions.
- Assisting with business development and knowledge‑management initiatives.
- Ensuring compliance with all professional and regulatory requirements.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring:
- 2-5 years’ PQE with demonstrable restructuring and insolvency experience.
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to grasp complex financial and corporate structures.
- Excellent drafting skills and strong attention to detail.
