The role is primarily compliance-focused with responsibilities including:

  • Calculate the monthly biofuel obligation in UK & Ireland
  • Track the physical fossil and biofuel content of all product movements
  • Validate and reconcile obligated sales; balance UK and Irish official duty return
  • Calculate supply partner biofuel balances and agree with counterparties
  • Identify data discrepancies and resolve with internal or external parties
  • Certificate claim process and certificate balance; work with suppliers and operations to obtain documentation
  • Support trading of physical biofuel and maintain carbon/sustainability data
  • Review documentation for compliance with national and ISCC regulations
  • Maintain mass balance for Refinery biodiesel and ethanol stocks using Valero systems and others
  • Enter claims in external government systems with verifier sign-off
  • Coordinate certificate transfers, purchases and sales with supply counterparties

Critical Deadlines:

  • Monthly – Volume submission to create obligation
  • Quarterly – Application for certificate award
  • Annual – GHG reporting, redemption, final award

Additional Duties

  • Liaise with UK & Ireland Biofuel Agencies and Verifier for new biofuel types/sources
  • Represent the company at industry/government biofuel forums
  • Review biofuel trade documentation to ensure contract clauses protect certificate claims
