Lawyer: EPC Lead for a major offshore wind project based in the United Kingdom. The role sits on the Project Leadership Team (PLT) and reports to the Development Project Lead. It involves overall responsibility for leading a large, multi-discipline project team progressing preparatory works, including Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management, engineering, procurement and project management, to ensure the project is ready to commence the Construction Phase at the time of taking the Final Investment Decision (FID). The team also supports the preparation of business cases and value-optimisation activities required to secure FID.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary and multicultural project team throughout the preparatory phase.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, technical performance, cost and schedule targets established in the Final Investment Decision.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a project delivery capability (people, processes and systems) that safely and efficiently delivers the project across its lifecycle.
  • Manage construction and support contracts to ensure delivery according to the project plan.
  • Coordinate cross-disciplinary activities between sub-projects in fields such as permit, commerce, finance, site and operations.
  • Identify and manage common technical, commercial and stakeholder risks associated with offshore construction activities.
  • Apply influence techniques to achieve results and drive stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

  • Experienced leaders who have successfully managed large, multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural project teams and built local project management capability.
  • Experience providing assurance that windfarm construction can be carried out safely, without harm to people or the environment, and meeting quality and technical performance requirements within cost and schedule targets.
  • Proven ability to define, establish and maintain a project delivery capability that safely and efficiently delivers the project across its lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for managing all construction and support contracts effectively and ensuring delivery as per the project plan.
  • Track record of coordinating cross-disciplinary activities between sub-projects in fields such as permit, commerce, finance, site and operations.
  • Understanding of common technical, commercial and stakeholder risks in offshore construction activities.
  • Experience applying techniques to influence others to deliver results.

Qualifications

  • Degree level in an engineering discipline or equivalent science/numerate qualification.
  • Membership of a project management professional body and/or accreditation (advantageous).
  • At least 10 years of experience safely delivering complex offshore construction projects, preferably involving HV electrical systems and wind turbines, meeting quality, schedule and cost expectations.
