Contract Manager – Energy / Industrial EPC

Location: Tilbury, Essex – Site Based Sector: Energy from Waste / Industrial EPC / Power Generation

Contract Manager Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Contract Manager to join a major industrial energy project based in Tilbury, Essex.

This is a commercially focused and highly visible position, providing contractual and commercial leadership across the full project lifecycle – from pre-award and tendering through project execution, commissioning, warranty, service and operational support.

You will work closely with Project Management, Procurement, Legal, Finance and Supply Management teams, while acting as a key point of contact for contractual matters with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

Contract Manager Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial and contractual support throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Review and negotiate commercial terms and identify contractual risks and opportunities.
  • Support tender submissions and pre-award commercial strategy.
  • Lead contractual and commercial management across assigned EPC projects, service contracts and warranty activities.
  • Support Project Managers with change management, claims, variations and commercial negotiations.
  • Manage contractual correspondence and maintain accurate commercial records.
  • Manage claims, guarantees, insurance matters, payment applications and retentions.
  • Maintain commercial and contractual risk registers and mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with Procurement to ensure subcontract and supplier agreements appropriately flow down contractual requirements.
  • Support project budgets, forecasts and cost-to-complete activities.
  • Participate in commercial meetings and negotiations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Support warranty activities, defect resolution and dispute avoidance.

Contract Manager Background

We are looking for someone with

  • A degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
  • Strong commercial/contracts experience within construction, energy, infrastructure, industrial plant or engineering projects.
  • Experience working within an EPC/project delivery environment.
  • Strong understanding of standard and bespoke contracts, ideally including NEC, FIDIC and IChem E.
  • Knowledge of O&M Agreements and Service Agreements would also be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable experience managing contract changes, variations, claims, risk and commercial negotiations.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify contractual risks and opportunities.
  • Previous site-based experience on a major construction or industrial project would be advantageous.
