We are recruiting for an experienced Plant Manager to take overall responsibility for the safe, efficient and commercially successful operation of an Energy from Waste facility in Slough. This is a senior site leadership position with responsibility for plant performance, operations, maintenance, HSEQ, environmental compliance, budgets and people management. The successful candidate will lead the site management team and ensure the facility achieves its operational, financial and contractual targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the Energy from Waste facility
  • Lead and manage Operations, Maintenance and other site functions through the plant leadership team
  • Drive plant availability, reliability, efficiency and performance
  • Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities for optimisation and continuous improvement
  • Full responsibility for site budgets, P&L, forecasting, expenditure and cost control
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental permits, HSE legislation and contractual requirements
  • Provide visible HSEQ leadership and promote a strong site safety culture
  • Ensure effective risk management, safe systems of work and appropriate resource planning
  • Lead investigations into incidents and operational issues, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Monitor and report against key operational, financial and HSEQ KPIs
  • Act as a key point of contact for regulators, stakeholders, contractors and external organisations
  • Lead, develop and support multidisciplinary teams across the facility

Experience & Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced senior operational leader with a background in Energy from Waste, power generation or a comparable heavy process/industrial environment. You should ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Plant Manager, Station Manager, Operations Manager, O&M Manager or similar senior operational leader
  • Strong knowledge of power generation, Energy from Waste or process plant operations
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering qualification
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary operational and maintenance teams
  • Strong understanding of HSE, environmental compliance and plant operating permits
  • Experience managing budgets, P&L, forecasting and cost control
  • Strong understanding of plant performance, reliability and continuous improvement
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
