Head of Operations
Taylor Hopkinson is delighted to be supporting a leading waste management and recycling business in the appointment of a Head of Operations.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced operational leader to join the Senior Leadership Team and play a key role in shaping the future performance of a growing business.
You'll have full ownership of operational strategy, safety, performance and profitability, leading multidisciplinary teams while driving continuous improvement across the site.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be responsible for operational performance, compliance and the Operations P&L, ensuring safe, efficient and commercially successful operations across waste processing, recycling and production.
Head of Operations Role
You'll be responsible for
- Developing and delivering the operational strategy in line with business objectives.
- Driving operational performance through KPI management, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Managing the Operations P&L, budgets and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and profitability.
- Maximising plant productivity, recovery rates and operational resilience through effective planning and business continuity.
- Producing operational and financial reports for the Executive Team and Board.
- Leading, mentoring and developing operational teams while creating a high-performance culture.
- Working with HR on recruitment, succession planning, performance management and employee development.
- Championing Health, Safety & Environmental excellence and ensuring compliance with all legislation and company standards.
- Leading audits, inspections, investigations and continuous HSE improvement initiatives.
- Building strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, regulators and internal stakeholders.

We're looking for an experienced operations leader with
- A background within Waste Management, Recycling, Energy from Waste, Manufacturing, Heavy Industry, Utilities or other process plant environments.
- Proven experience leading large operational teams within a complex industrial environment.
- Full P&L and budget management experience.
- A track record of delivering operational improvement, business transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and compliance.
- The ability to influence at Board and Senior Leadership level.
