We are seeking a proactive and experienced Legal Cashier / Accounts Manager to take full ownership of the day-to-day Legal Cashiering and Accounting function. This is a key role within the firm, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules (SAR), VAT regulations, and general accounting best practices.

You will also work closely with the Practice Director on management reporting and financial performance tracking and provide training and support to a part-time accounts assistant.

Key Responsibilities
  • Full responsibility for daily Legal Cashiering and financial operations, ensuring SAR compliance.
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of all financial transactions and reconciliations using LEAP (case management) and Xero (accounts software).
  • Liaise with external payroll provider; understand payroll processes to ensure smooth monthly operations.
  • Train and mentor the part-time Accounts Assistant, including SAR compliance and procedural knowledge.
  • Work with the Practice Director to produce KPIs, management reports, and other financial analysis as required.
  • Provide financial and accounting support to fee earners and support staff as needed.
  • Ensure full Accounts function coverage, including during holidays, working alongside the part-time assistant (currently Mondays and Fridays).
