Taylor and Fraser senior management team are committed to ensuring as an organisation we excel in complying with our statutory requirements and as such we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor to join our team to support our projects and promote compliance with our Environmental Health & Safety Management Systems. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all health and safety regulations and standards are adhered to on our projects.
  • Assessing risks, implementing safety measures, and promoting a culture of safety across all levels of the organisation.
  • Supporting the EHS Manager in developing and enforcing EHS policies and procedures.
  • Cultivating an exceptional EHS culture and providing leadership to embed a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Driving a positive safety culture through coaching, support, and strong engagement with all teams.
  • Monitoring the sites EHS performance and identifying proactive measures to improve performance shortfalls.
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and identifying potential hazards.
  • Liaising with clients and off-site legislative bodies and providing reports on key metrics.
  • Assisting operational teams in reviewing sub-contractors' risk assessments/method statements.
  • Conducting regular site inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Investigating incidents and near-misses, assisting with root cause analysis, and supporting implementation of corrective actions.
  • Coordinating and delivering EHS training and emergency response drills for all staff and contractors.
  • Leading and chairing Health & Safety meetings, providing guidance to H&S representatives and operational managers.
  • Participating in EHS improvement initiatives and providing feedback on lessons learned.
  • Maintaining accurate EHS records and preparing required reports for stakeholders.
  • Promoting sustainability, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performing routine site inspections and EHS audits to assess compliance.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Advising teams on proper use and selection of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Facilitating communication and engagement on EHS topics between leadership, employees, and contractors.
  • Staying up to date on relevant EHS regulations and best practices.
  • Participating in cross-functional meetings to integrate EHS considerations into operational planning.
  • Supporting initiatives for improving environmental performance.
  • Organizing and delivering health and safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring all personnel are adequately trained in emergency procedures and the use of safety equipment.

Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and relevant professional membership (e.g. IOSH, IIRSM).
  • 5-7 years’ experience as a Lead Health and Safety Advisor in the construction/electrical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience in emergency response planning and behavioural safety.
  • Skilled in data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to make a difference.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
