Are you looking to join a dynamic, award-winning charity with a mission to increase diverse talent within the PR and communications industry? We are looking for an innovative Programme Officer to join our team and lead our PR Training Programmes.

The Taylor Bennett Foundation (UK) is a UK-based charity that encourages diverse talent from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds to pursue a career in public relations and communications. Established in 2008, the Foundation exists to increase greater ethnic diversity representation in the industry. The Taylor Bennett Foundation has supported over 1,400 people over the last seventeen years.

Our Mission: Our mission is to increase ethnic diversity in the PR and communications industry by opening doors for underrepresented talent and working with employers to build inclusive, equitable workplaces where people can thrive.

Our Values: Inclusive, Ambitious, Accountable

About The PR Training Programme: Our award-winning PR & Communications Training Programme is a paid, full-time 6–8 week traineeship designed to equip participants with the knowledge, insights and networks needed to start a career in public relations and strategic communications. The programme is built around three core pillars: building connections with industry professionals and peers, developing essential PR skills, and gaining the tools and confidence to secure an entry-level role in the industry. It has been designed to directly address the lack of ethnic diversity in PR and communications and is open to graduates from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds.

About the Role: The Programme Officer will be responsible for the operational delivery and planning of our flagship PR Training programme. This programme currently runs several times a year and includes organisations such as Brunswick Group and HSBC.

Key Relationships: With the support of the Director of Programmes, the Programme Officer will build, establish and maintain good and professional working relationships with:

  • Universities, careers services, relevant university societies and community organisations working with the Foundation.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the programme timelines and recruitment timetabling for the PR Training programme.
  • Lead on all administration and organisation related to recruitment, marketing and delivery of the PR Training programme.
  • Work with programme partners and Taylor Bennett Foundation supporters to organise the specifics of the PR Training programme timetable.
  • Identify business development opportunities for the benefit of the Foundation and training programme.
  • Organise and attend trainee workshops by masterclass host organisations.
  • Support the delivery of employability skills sessions during the programme.
  • Provide pastoral support to the trainees via 1-2-1 sessions and support their job searches.
  • Document project expenditures within agreed budgets working closely with the Finance Manager.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the programme timetable and continuously seek to develop the programme over time.

Other:

  • Create social media content to support the promotion of the programme.
  • Participate actively in the development and planning of Taylor Bennett Foundation.

Person Specification: To be successful in this role, it is anticipated that you would have some prior programme (or project) support experience (1-2 years). The Programme Officer would be expected to attend all trainee workshops that are delivered on the programme.

Skills Required:

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to manage corporate relationships and students/graduates.
  • Understanding of the barriers that people from a Black, Asian and ethnically diverse background may face in regard to securing graduate level employment.
  • Strong work ethic and demonstrated ability to multitask.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and deliver against set targets to agreed deadlines.
  • Strong interest in equitable diversity and belief in the Taylor Bennett Foundation's mission.
  • Demonstrable interest in challenges surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and interest in issues surrounding social mobility and education programmes.
  • A creative thinker: coming up with new ways to communicate our message and engage with our network.

Benefits:

  • Statutory holiday entitlement of 25 days, bank holidays and Christmas office closures.
  • Employer Pension Plan, combined minimum of 8% contribution.
  • Training opportunities to support your own growth and personal development.
  • A dynamic coworking environment in a converted Victorian printworks close to Borough and London Bridge.
  • A membership that goes beyond a desk — including free gym access and a range of fitness classes.
  • A lively events programme featuring cultural and music events.
  • A dog-friendly workspace where you can bring your pet to the office.
  • On-site deli & bar, showers, phone booths and high-speed Wi-Fi.
