Job Description

We're seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to own delivery end-to-end within our domain-based delivery model. This unified role combines project governance with agile facilitation and servant leadership, driving iterative progress across waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches.

You'll work flexibly across domains in response to project demand, collaborating with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Architecture, Engineering, and Business colleagues to deliver defined capabilities within feasibility constraints.

What You'll Be Doing

Strategic Delivery Leadership

  • Define project roadmaps, milestones, and success criteria
  • Develop business cases and funding requests grounded in defined value
  • Manage scope, schedule, and budget; proactively monitor progress and initiate corrective action
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and business value tracking
  • Coach teams on agile/scrum values and self-organisation
  • Track and communicate delivery progress using appropriate metrics
  • Champion iterative delivery and continuous improvement

Delivery Ownership

  • Lead end-to-end product development and initiative delivery
  • Adapt quickly across different domains as project demand shifts
  • Lead inceptions for sizeable initiatives and maintain delivery artefacts
  • Manage project budgets and escalate risks to cost, time, or quality

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as primary interface across business, technology, and product teams
  • Communicate project goals clearly and inspire teams to achieve results
  • Unblock conflicting priorities to keep delivery on track
  • Facilitate relationships with third-party development teams

RAID Management & Governance

  • Identify and manage risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies
  • Collaborate with peers on cross-domain dependencies
  • Support programme-level quarterly alignment and resource planning
  • Provide servant leadership through coaching and facilitation
  • Build high-performing, collaborative environments
  • Facilitate workshops and problem-solving sessions

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering software initiatives in dynamic agile environments
  • Proven track record delivering multiple projects across the full delivery lifecycle
  • Strong working knowledge of agile/scrum frameworks and ceremonies
  • Experience managing project governance: scope, schedule, budget, RAID, and reporting
  • Familiarity with project tracking tools (Jira, Confluence, Kanban boards)
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Matrix management experience with ability to coach and lead by example
  • Commercial awareness and customer focus
  • Analytical and critical thinking with ability to manage risk in complex environments
  • Understanding of software development processes and incremental delivery

The following experience is also desirable:

  • Formal accreditation (PMP, PRINCE2, CSM, SAFe, AgilePM)
  • Experience facilitating large-scale inceptions or discovery phases
  • Familiarity with academic publishing or digital content workflows
  • Experience with distributed or third-party development teams
