Our client is a well-established family business with core values of quality and service, offering services in Grounds Maintenance, Landscaping, and Environmental Water and Woodland Management.
The main purpose of the role is to manage and promote the Environmental Department, predominantly to expand on a small customer base. The Department will need to build up to a turnover of a minimum of £2 million, and the candidate will be required to encourage a positive working environment while building and managing the existing team.
The manager will be responsible for all Health and Safety Management within this Department, including:
- Delivery of toolbox talks
- Site safety inspections
- Inductions of sites
- Writing RAMS, Method Statements, and COSHH
- Dealing with accident reporting and fuel/oil spillages
- Ensuring daily checks upon equipment/vehicles and machinery are complete
The candidate will also be responsible for arranging all servicing and maintenance of machinery/equipment, including but not limited to:
- Tractors
- Side, Front, and Rear Flail Mowers
- 360 Excavators
- Chippers
- Vehicles
- Biomass machinery
- Remote Control Mowers
Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and computer systems is required, along with good writing and presentation skills to prepare and send quotations and emails. The candidate will liaise with the administration department regarding computerised HR systems, signing and approving the team's hours, return to work after sickness, and general information.
Collaboration with the GM Department will be necessary when there is a crossover of working operations or staffing. The candidate must retain a safe and tidy working environment within the outside depot.
Knowledge of planting trees, staking, matting, understanding of 360 excavators (including tree shears), biomass machinery, ground preparation for seeding and wild seeding, and ditch and watercourse profiling is essential.
The following qualifications are required:
- SMSTS
- NPORS (excavators for over 10 tonnes and below 10 tonnes, including dump trailer)
