About the Role: We are looking for a methodical and motivated Estimating Assistant to join our team in Taffs Well on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is ideal for someone who has recently left college, with a strong attention to detail and a desire to work within a fast-paced, project-driven environment, supporting the estimating and sales teams with the preparation of accurate and timely costings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out detailed take-offs from floor plans and architectural drawings.
- Identify and extract key information from tender documents, including window schedules, elevations, floor plans, and product keys.
- Prepare accurate and comprehensive blind/curtain schedules for the estimating team.
- Communicate with clients to request additional information or deadline extensions where required.
- Annotate and mark plans based on the take-off for clear use by the estimating and sales teams.
- Contact suppliers to obtain project-specific pricing and ensure up-to-date costs are used in estimates.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PDF software; experience with Microsoft 365 suite.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
- Confident in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- A basic understanding of construction terminology is preferred but not essential.
