TAY Recruitment Limited are looking for an experienced Stonemason to start a one month project and potentially longer from Tuesday 09th June 2026 in Bristol. You will be working on bridges replacing the stonework walls.

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Stonemason to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for shaping, cutting, and laying stone materials to create durable and aesthetically pleasing structures. This role offers an opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including building facades, walls, and decorative features, contributing to high-quality craftsmanship and lasting constructions. Candidates should possess a strong eye for detail, excellent manual dexterity, and experience working with a range of tools and materials.
Responsibilities:
- Measure, cut, shape, and lay stone and brickwork according to project specifications
- Use hand tools such as chisels, hammers, trowels, and levels to execute precise masonry work
- Operate power tools safely and effectively for cutting and shaping stones or bricks
- Assist with the installation of roofing components where necessary
- Perform carpentry tasks related to masonry projects, including framing or support structures
- Carry out welding tasks as required for structural reinforcement or decorative features
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building regulations
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other tradespeople to ensure project accuracy and quality
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment
Requirements:
- Proven experience in masonry or stonemasonry roles with a portfolio of completed projects
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as chisels, hammers, trowels, levels, as well as power tools like saws and grinders
- Knowledge of bricklaying techniques and masonry principles
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately
- Experience with carpentry, roofing, welding, or related trades is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail with excellent manual dexterity
- Physical fitness to handle heavy materials and perform manual labour over extended periods
- Relevant qualifications or apprenticeships in masonry or construction trades are preferred but not essential
