We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and detail-oriented Trainee Accountant / Junior Practice Accountant to join our growing accountancy practice.
This opportunity is suitable for fresh Accounting or Finance graduates, ACCA part-qualified students and ACCA finalists who are keen to learn and develop their careers in accountancy and taxation.
Previous experience in an accountancy practice is preferred but not essential. We welcome applicants who demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to professional development.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping and Annual Accounts
- Maintain and update client bookkeeping records.
- Prepare trial balances and assist with year-end adjustments.
- Assist with preparing and finalising annual accounts.
- Communicate with clients to resolve year-end queries and obtain outstanding information.
- Assist with submitting accounts to Companies House and Corporation Tax returns to HMRC using Sage, following appropriate review.
2. Self Assessment and MTD
- Assist with preparing Self Assessment tax returns for individuals and sole traders.
- Assist with MTD for Income Tax quarterly updates and year-end submissions.
- Monitor filing deadlines and follow up with clients.
3. Client Onboarding and KYC
- Assist with onboarding new clients.
- Collect and verify identification and KYC documents.
- Support AML checks and client risk assessments.
- Prepare engagement letters and maintain onboarding records.
- Assist with annual client due diligence reviews.
- Review and update client information and identification records.
- Follow up with clients for outstanding compliance documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organised AML records.
Qualifications and Skills
- Fresh graduate in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, ACCA part-qualified or ACCA finalist.
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and financial accounting.
- Good Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enthusiastic, proactive and genuinely keen to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous accountancy practice experience is preferred but not essential.
- Experience with Sage or similar accounting software is advantageous, but training will be provided.
Mandatory Language Requirements
Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in all three languages:
Good written English and verbal communication skills in all three languages are required.
