We are working with a growing, Top 40 accountancy and advisory firm seeking an experienced VAT Assistant Manager to join its established indirect tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for a VAT professional looking to further develop their advisory career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.
The Role
- As a VAT Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality VAT advisory services to a diverse client base, while also supporting internal teams on technical matters.
- Providing tailored VAT advice across a wide range of industries.
- Supporting internal teams with technical VAT queries.
- Advising on complex areas, including property transactions (e.g. TOGCs, options to tax, Capital Goods Scheme).
- Liaising with HMRC to resolve technical VAT issues.
- Monitoring and interpreting changes in VAT legislation.
- Preparing clear and concise VAT advisory reports.
- Delivering internal VAT training.
- Building strong client relationships and acting as a trusted advisor.
About You
- We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded VAT specialist who is confident managing advisory work and building strong relationships.
- You will have strong knowledge of VAT legislation and compliance.
- Bring experience from a VAT advisory role (practice or consultancy preferred).
- Be a confident communicator, able to explain complex issues clearly.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Be ATT qualified or part-qualified CTA (desirable, not essential).
- Be organised, adaptable, and client-focused.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
