Overview

A Tax disputes/Tax Investigations specialist is sought by a dynamic independent firm which specialises in forensic accountancy and tax disputes work. This role could be at any level from Assistant Manager to Senior Manager. The key is that you have sound tax investigation skills gained either in practice or HMRC, ideally with a focus on investigations involving individuals, and you will need a detailed understanding of key HMRC disclosure options, such as the LPC, WDF and CDF.

Responsibilities

This unique role will involve working hand in hand with the current departmental head to grow out the department in this phase of dynamic expansion. It is an ideal role for those individuals wishing to work with more autonomy but nevertheless in a supportive environment. The successful candidate will be expected to both review disclosure reports prepared by junior members of the team and carry a caseload themselves, as required.

Location

This role can be based in either the Leeds or Manchester office, or if a more senior hire is made, remotely with occasional travel to an office.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years Tax Investigation experience.
  • A working knowledge of tax legislation relating to personal income, including self assessment, Capital Gains Tax and HMRC’s penalty regimes.
  • Professionally qualified / part qualified (AAT / ATT / ACA / ACCA / CTA ex Inspector of Taxes) or qualified by experience.
  • Excellent understanding of key HMRC disclosure options: LPC, WDF and CDF.
