Our client is a Top Ten accountancy firm in the UK. They seek a VAT Senior Manager / Associate Director or Director. In this role, you will oversee complex VAT engagements, providing strategic advice on VAT planning and compliance. You will manage key client relationships, mentor teams, and ensure that VAT returns are prepared accurately. Your role ensures high-quality service delivery and helps clients navigate complex VAT matters effectively. You will have excellent technical skills.

Day to day work includes:

  • Lead the day to day duties of your team.
  • Support all levels of team members with their technical research, reviewing their work and ensuring clients are managed not only efficiently but effectively with proactive and reactive advice.
  • Manage a portfolio of clients, advising on all aspects of indirect tax including HMRC investigations, through investigations and beyond, to provide peace of mind and technical support when they need it most.
  • Network with wider VAT teams within the business to ensure you are working on a National level to service clients and keep technical expertise current.
  • Work with Partners on business development for the Indirect Tax team.

This role is based in Manchester, and our client would prefer a full-time candidate although they would consider part time (e.g. 4 days). This role can be hybrid with a minimum of 3 days in the office. Ideally you will have a relevant qualification e.g. ATT, CTA, ACA, ICAS or ACCA or equivalent. This role would suit someone who has strong technical knowledge and experience in mentoring junior team members. There is plenty of scope for development in this role. Unfortunately, this client is unable to offer visa sponsorship.
