Our client is an established and growing independent accountancy firm with offices across Stockport and Droylsden. Focused exclusively on tax, this is a firm that prides itself on delivering high quality personal tax compliance and advisory services to a varied and complex client base, building genuine long term relationships along the way.
Your new role
As a Personal Tax Manager you will take ownership of a portfolio of approximately 300-350 personal tax clients, delivering compliance and advisory services to a consistently high standard. You'll meet regularly with clients to discuss their tax affairs, prepare and review personal tax returns, provide proactive tax planning advice and act as the primary point of contact for your portfolio. The advisory work covers a broad range of complex planning matters including residence and domicile, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, trusts and income tax planning. You'll also supervise and develop junior team members and work closely with senior managers and partners on complex advisory projects.
Key responsibilities include
- Managing a personal tax portfolio of approximately 300-350 clients across compliance and advisory
- Meeting regularly with clients to discuss tax affairs and build strong long term relationships
- Preparing and reviewing personal tax returns including complex cases
- Providing proactive personal tax planning advice across CGT, IHT, residence and domicile, trusts and income tax planning
- Acting as the primary point of contact for your portfolio
- Supervising and developing junior team members
- Working closely with senior managers and partners on complex advisory projects
- Keeping up to date with UK personal tax legislation and emerging developments
To be successful in this role, you'll need
- Extensive personal tax experience with a proven ability to manage a large and varied portfolio
- Strong technical knowledge across income tax, CGT, IHT, residence and domicile and general tax planning
- Confident meeting clients in person and delivering clear practical advice
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members
- ATT or CTA qualification desirable but not essential where substantial experience is demonstrated
- Proactive, organised and solutions focused with excellent relationship management skills
