Our client is a large, award winning accountancy firm based in Droylsden, Manchester and they seek a Tax Manager or Senior Manager. In this role, you will oversee a varied portfolio of clients, delivering high quality personal tax compliance and advisory services. The role focuses exclusively on tax, covering a broad range of complex planning matters. The position is primarily based across two offices in Stockport and Droylsden, as required.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a personal tax portfolio of approximately 300–350 clients, ensuring all compliance and advisory work is delivered to a high standard.
  • Meeting regularly with clients to discuss their tax affairs, providing clear guidance, and building strong, long‑term relationships.
  • Preparation and review of personal tax returns, ensuring accuracy, timely submission, and full compliance with HMRC requirements.
  • Providing proactive personal tax planning advice across areas such as residence and domicile, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, trusts, and income tax planning.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance client tax efficiency and communicating recommendations in a clear, practical manner.
  • Acting as the main point of contact for your portfolio, managing queries, resolving issues, and maintaining exceptional service levels.
  • Supervising and supporting junior team members, reviewing their work and contributing to their development.
  • You will work closely with senior managers and partners to deliver complex advisory projects and ensure consistent service quality.
  • Maintaining up‑to‑date technical knowledge of UK personal tax legislation and emerging developments.
  • Contributing to the growth of the tax department by nurturing client relationships and identifying opportunities for additional services.

Employment Details

The role is hybrid based – three days a week in the office, with flexible working considered. Potential candidates include a manager or senior manager, ideally ATT or CTA qualified, with a strong client base. Unfortunately this client is unable to offer visa sponsorship.
