This dynamic, hands-on role involves working in clinics and community settings to deliver prevention and early intervention services to people who may not routinely access primary care. The position supports NHS Health Checks, Lung Cancer Screening pathways, talk-wellbeing outreach, clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, ECGs, and health promotion conversations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical care within your competence and scope, escalating concerns appropriately.
- Support clinicians with assessment and monitoring of patients.
- Undertake phlebotomy, ECGs, and urine specimen preparation following protocols.
- Record physiological observations: blood pressure, pulse rate and rhythm, respiratory rate, temperature, height, weight, waist circumference and BMI.
- Perform simple wound care and dressings; recognise non-healing wounds and escalate as needed.
- Act as chaperone when required.
- Respond to urgent or emergency situations (e.g. anaphylaxis, cardiac arrest) by summoning immediate assistance.
- Provide clear healthy-lifestyle advice and health education appropriate to the individual.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to information governance.
- Document consultations and interventions accurately in EMIS Web.
- Seek supervision and clinical advice from a practice nurse, ACP, or GP as needed.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities.
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 1 & 2 in Health and Social Care or Care Certificate.
- Phlebotomy competency.
- Experience of NHS Health Checks and/or screening programmes.
- Experience of EMIS Web.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible approach to working across different settings and across enhanced access and prevention services.
- Understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Confidence working within a multidisciplinary team.
