The predicted salary is between 45 - 60 £ per hour.

To act as an autonomous GP working independently in Taurus Healthcare Clinical service areas to assess, diagnose and treat the conditions of patients attending within primary care services and their own homes, initiating direct referrals as appropriate. Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues and ensure the maintenance of clinical excellence.

Flexible working and contracted shifts available (Monday Friday nights & weekends daytime and night shifts). Interviews are expected to be held on week commencing 9th March 2026.

Main duties of the job

  • Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to service users, promoting self-care and empowering them to make informed choices about their treatment.
  • Work collaboratively with hospital and community colleagues ensuring patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time.
  • Work with wider clinical team to manage on the day demand and priorities.
  • Review, prescribe and administer medication in line with national guidance and local formularies utilising EMIS local guidance and cost saving software prompts.
  • When working in GP OOH service, receive medication bags for urgent care dispensing use, complying with Good Distribution Practice Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Recognise professional responsibility in promoting welfare and safeguarding of children, young people and adults and statutory reporting of safeguarding concerns.
  • Work within own competence and scope of practice.
  • Report and manage clinical incidents.

Job responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

To provide a full general practice service across different settings according to the portfolio role of the GP and the needs of the service.

Main Responsibilities

  • The post holder will be responsible for seeing patients in an identical manner to regular general practice work, taking responsibility for a patients care and only referring back to their own GP where appropriate, consistent with ensuring every contact counts.
  • This will involve routine, urgent and telephone appointments, as well as supporting the clinical and administrative teams in the best interests of the patient that supports a patient seeing the right person at the right time in the right place.
  • The GP is expected to do any referrals required and appropriately prescribe within the Herefordshire guidelines, taking into account the Low Priority Treatment guidance from the CCG.
  • To assist in development of the service, with incident reporting and suggestions for improvements through the appropriate system.

Qualifications

  • Qualified General Practitioner.

  • In date CPR training (within 18 months)
  • Current clean driving license.

  • Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP)

  • Experience of working in Primary Care.
