We are hiring a qualified dispenser (NVQ Level 2/3) to manage the dispensary at Ryeland Surgery. The post holder will process prescriptions in line with practice policy and legislation, support the clinically led GP team, and help maintain a high‑level of service at all times.
Working pattern: part‑time, 22.5 hours over three days (07:30‑15:30 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday).
Contract: permanent.
Salary: £12.85 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispense medicines safely and accurately.
- Check medication against prescription, collect charges, and record all activity.
- Process repeat prescriptions within agreed time‑frames.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and stock levels.
- Support stock control, ordering and rotation with the lead dispenser.
- Keep the dispensary clean, tidy and compliant with SOPs.
- Help patients with prescription queries and provide advice on medication matters.
- Assist the Dispensary Supervisor with monthly returns and other dispensing tasks.
Essential Qualifications:
- Qualified Dispenser (NVQ Level 2/3).
- GCSE in English and Maths (Grade C or above).
- Experience working in a primary care dispensary.
- Knowledge of general practice pharmacy practice.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
Additional Requirements:
- Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Flexibility to work outside core office hours.
- Excellent communication and telephone skills.
- Proficiency with EMIS / Systmone / Vision and Office/Outlook.
Our friendly GP practice hosts GPs, practitioners, pharmacists, nurses, healthcare assistants and social prescribers. We operate across two sites serving over 19,000 registered patients and are a training practice with a research nurse.
