Building Construction Project Leader – Portsmouth £40 per hour + overtime. Initially 12 months. 1‑stage interview. Mon‑Fri (flexible working hours).

What the role involves:

  • Lead the team through detailed design of Building Services for a range of projects including major plant replacement and refurbishment works.
  • Maintain awareness of associated maintenance and operation of engineering services including condition surveys, service delivery audits and preparing plant replacement/life cycle plans.
  • Apply industry standard design and calculation software.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, and other design team members.
  • Prepare reports, drawings and specifications.
  • Develop and maintain excellent client relationships.
  • Project manage suitable projects, ensuring excellent communication skills.
  • Monitor, audit and validate progress of professional service work packages and works on site, ensuring technical compliance and H&S matters.

Key qualifications and experience:

  • Experience in Capital Investment Project management and delivery.
  • Previous experience in Building Engineering Services refurbishment in existing buildings with an emphasis on small to medium sized projects.
  • Demonstrable experience taking projects from inception and feasibility, through design and specification to site monitoring and handover.
  • Ability to develop client briefs into construction requirements, including scopes for external professionals such as architects, structural engineers and systems designers.
  • Good practical understanding of mechanical and electrical plants, systems and equipment in relation to engineering design, operation and maintenance across a wide range of sectors and building types.
