Electrical Design Engineer
Based in the Southwest area, this is a permanent, site‑based role with Certain Advantage.
Role
Lead a small, experienced and collaborative team, responsible for developing and delivering electrical design packages from concept through to detailed design.
Produce engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical substantiation to support new installations, system modifications and infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Experience delivering electrical design packages within a highly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of LV and HV power distribution systems.
- Proficiency in electrical calculations, technical specifications and design substantiation.
- Knowledge of electrical design standards and industry codes of practice (BS 7671, IEC standards and relevant regulations).
- Experience using CAD and electrical design software.
- Desirable: experience in defence, nuclear, energy, infrastructure or industrial sectors.
- Familiarity with ETAP, Amtech, Trimble, Auto CAD Electrical or similar tools.
- Experience supporting design reviews, hazard assessments and safety case documentation.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and technical report‑writing skills.
