Location: School Kitchen / Catering Department, Brighton, East Sussex
Key Responsibilities:
- Wash dishes, trays, cutlery, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment using manual and/or automatic washing methods.
- Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, sinks, and drying stations.
- Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling following school policies.
- Assist with basic kitchen cleaning tasks such as wiping work surfaces, sweeping, and mopping floors.
- Operate dish‑washing machinery safely and report any malfunctions.
- Follow food safety and hygiene procedures at all times (e.g., correct use of PPE, hand‑washing, avoiding cross‑contamination).
- Support the catering team during busy periods, including setting up and clearing down as required.
- Adhere to safeguarding and health & safety policies in an environment with children present.
Person Specification:
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- DBS required.
- Good communication skills and ability to take instruction.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Aware of basic hygiene and cleanliness standards.
- Physically capable of standing for long periods and handling modest lifting tasks.
