About the Role
We are recruiting a Warehouse Manager to oversee all production planning, packing, storage, inventory management and dispatch activities for a busy flour milling operation. You will ensure that warehouse processes are safe, efficient and compliant with industry standards, while leading and developing a team across packing, loading and stock control functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management
- Oversee receipt, storage, and dispatch of flour, packaging and raw materials.
- Maintain real‑time and accurate stock levels using WMS.
- Drive effective stock rotation using FIFO principles and minimise waste.
- Manage stock control personnel.
- Warehouse Operations
- Plan and coordinate daily warehouse activities including production planning, packing, storage, loading and goods‑in.
- Ensure efficient flow of goods between production and warehouse.
- Maintain a clean, safe and compliant warehouse environment in line with food safety standards.
- Team Leadership
- Lead and supervise packers, loaders, forklift operators and inventory staff.
- Create work schedules, allocate tasks and ensure the team is trained in safety and operational procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture through ongoing training and risk assessments.
- Logistics Coordination
- Work with the transport team to support on‑time, in‑full deliveries.
- Align warehouse activities with milling and production schedules.
- Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure all products are stored and handled in accordance with HACCP, GMP and food safety requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections for cleanliness, pest control and product integrity.
- Oversee correct labelling, sealing and packaging to maintain quality.
- Equipment & Facility Management
- Manage maintenance of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks and bagging machines.
- Liaise with maintenance teams to keep facilities compliant and fully operational.
- Reporting & Documentation
- Produce reports on inventory, warehouse performance and packing efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of all goods movements.
- Report on KPIs and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Person Specification
- Essential
- Strong experience in warehouse management, ideally within food processing or milling.
- Proficient in WMS and inventory control systems.
- Solid understanding of logistics, warehouse best practices and food safety standards (HACCP, GMP).
- Excellent leadership, communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong IT skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Desirable
- Basic understanding of UK employment law and HR processes.
- IOSH Health & Safety management qualification.
- Experience with BRC audits, HACCP and food safety systems.
