About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Strain Gauge Installation Technician to join a busy and dynamic production environment. This position involves working on the manufacture and installation of specialist strain-gauge-based components, assemblies, and transducers. The ideal candidate will bring strong practical abilities, excellent attention to detail, and confidence working both on-site and within a production facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all aspects of strain gauge bonding, including surface preparation, layout, handling, clamping, and curing across various materials.
- Perform strain gauge wiring tasks such as soldering, cable prep, bridge balancing, and temperature compensation.
- Assemble and prepare components including connectors, looms, circuit boards, bearing fittings, welding, and related production processes.
- Use protective coatings, adhesives, and bonding materials effectively.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings (basic and complex).
- Conduct calibration, testing, and the preparation of associated documentation.
- Maintain high standards of quality, inspecting own work and supporting quality across the team.
- Train or support team members in bonding techniques where required.
- Follow health and safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organised working environment.
About You
Experience & Qualifications:
- Approximately 5+ years' experience in a similar Production Technician role.
- Certification equivalent to BSSM Level 2 (Level 1 considered depending on experience).
- Strong practical background with transducer or strain gauge-related production preferred.
Skills & Attributes:
- Good numeracy, literacy, and IT skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong organisation, and consistent adherence to documented procedures.
- Able to work independently and take initiative when required.
- Comfortable working in mixed environments including production halls, customer sites, and outdoor or non-controlled conditions.
