Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Controls & Automation Engineer to join our expanding engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, learning new technologies and working on bespoke automation and security systems.

The Role
Working alongside our experienced engineers, you will be involved in
- Installing, commissioning and maintaining specialist control and automation systems.
- Diagnosing electrical and control system faults.
- Supporting PLC, HMI and SCADA projects.
- Working with security systems including automated gates, industrial doors and access control equipment.
- Assisting with software modifications and system improvements.
- Travelling to customer sites throughout the UK, including Ministry of Justice establishments and other critical infrastructure sites.
- Delivering high-quality work while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
- What We’re Looking For
- Basic understanding of electronic control systems.
- Knowledge of relays, control circuits, sensors and switching logic.
- Ability to safely use a multimeter for electrical fault finding.
- Basic electrical knowledge including motor control and inverter drives.
- Understanding of ladder logic or microcontrollers.
- Strong willingness to learn PLC programming. Interest in HMI and SCADA systems with a desire to develop these skills.
- Basic IT knowledge, including networking fundamentals.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel nationwide and work away when required.
- Comfortable working in demanding environments, including prisons and other secure government facilities.
- Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Positive attitude, reliability and a willingness to continually learn.
- Experience with PLC programming.
- HMI or SCADA configuration experience.
- Database knowledge.
- Experience using EPLAN or other electrical drawing packages.
- Electrical fault-finding experience.
- DHF-powered gate or industrial door experience.
- Experience working within industrial automation or security industries.
