I’m currently partnering with a brilliant, fast‑growing business with offices across Central and Southern England, and they’ve just created a brand‑new opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join their Oxford team.

What They’re Looking for in a Payroll SpecialistThis role suits someone who’s confident managing multiple payrolls, thrives in a fast‑paced environment, and enjoys interacting with clients. You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- Ideally CIPP qualification (or working towards it)
- 3–5 years’ UK payroll experience
- External payroll and client experience
- Experience within an accountancy practice or bureau (big advantage but not essential)
- Strong IT skills and quick to pick up new systems
- Excellent organisation and the ability to juggle several deadlines
- Strong attention to detail
- A proactive, positive approach — someone who just gets stuck in
- A team mindset but also very capable of working independently
This is a genuinely varied role, covering:
- Managing your own portfolio of payroll clients
- Running payrolls weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually
- Processing starters, leavers, statutory payments, pensions, RTI submissions
- Setting up and closing PAYE schemes
- Acting as the main point of contact with HMRC
- Handling auto‑enrolment and pension uploads
- Ensuring all FPS/EPS submissions meet deadlines
- Producing P45s, P60s and all relevant documentation
- Supporting clients with day‑to‑day payroll queries
- Bringing your expertise to the wider payroll team when needed
