Tate Fleet is the fleet, fuel card and vehicle leasing and management division of the Tate Group. We are now looking to appoint a Commercial Manager β Fuelcards & Telematics to lead the next phase of growth. This is a senior, revenue-owning role with one clear mandate: triple the Tate Fleet fuel card and telematics business over the next 3β5 years while building new strategic growth channels across fleet services.
You will be responsible for transforming Tate Fleet from a stable, profitable fuel card operation into a high-growth, multi-site fleet solutions business covering fuel, telematics, EV charging and mobility services. This role requires someone who has already done this in the fuel card industry β this is not a learning role.

- Fuel card volumes & margin
- Telematics & connected vehicle revenue
- Customer acquisition, retention & wallet share

Key Responsibilities
- Grow and Scale the Core Fuel card Business
- Lead the strategy to triple active fuel card accounts and litres
- Improve margin through better supplier terms, smarter pricing, and product mix
- Drive customer acquisition across SMEs, fleets, trades, and regional and national operators
- Build a Telematics & Fleet Services Growth Engine
- Scale Tate Fleet's telematics base into a meaningful recurring revenue business
- Create integrated propositions combining fuel cards, telematics, driver behaviour, EV charging, and fleet services
- Increase revenue per vehicle and reduce customer churn
- Create Strategic Growth Channels
- Build new commercial routes to market, including strategic fleet partnerships, reseller or affiliate networks, white-label or OEM relationships, and cross-sell into Tate Oil, Tate Solar and Tate Leasing customers
- Build a Scalable Commercial Operation
- Recruit and lead a high-performance sales and account management team
- Define sales structure, targets, commission plans, CRM and reporting
- Introduce best-practice from the wider fuel card industry into Tate Fleet
- Own the Numbers
- Accountable for revenue growth, gross margin, customer retention, telematics penetration, sales productivity, and cost of acquisition
You will report directly to the Tate Group leadership team.
About You
This role is not suitable for general sales managers or people adjacent to the sector. You must have:
- 5+ years in the fuel card industry
- Experience working for or with fuel card providers, fleet card issuers, and telematics-enabled fleet operators
- A proven track record of growing large customer portfolios, building sales teams, and scaling revenue and margin
You will already understand pricing models, rebates, telematics attach rates, fleet churn dynamics, and how to win and retain fleet customers.

Based in Otley, West Yorkshire. Hybrid working, but this is a leadership role with a strong presence in the business.
