Role Purpose
To manufacture food stabilisers to meet customer requirements, ensuring the highest food quality and attention to detail at all times. To ensure that all EHSQ policies, safe systems of work and procedures are followed at all times. Maintain the highest accountability for personnel safety and that of others. Report all near misses, safety deviances and conduct behavioural audits of Plant and personnel as required. Highlight any machine issues that could affect the performance and the achievement of the required outputs. Working in a labour intensive and dusty dry powder processing facility.
Main Accountabilities

- Compliance with procedures that implement the requirements of the EHS policies and procedures;
- Being responsible for their own actions;
- Carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others and the environment;
- Reporting all incidents, defects, hazards and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken;
- Suggesting improvements and being active in the general improvement of all systems and methods of work to ensure EHS Support’s activities and services are carried out in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable and cost effective manner.
Role Responsibilities
- To work within the company policies /procedures and to ensure individual and collective Health & Safety is achieved.
- Ensure pre-inspections relating to condition and Food Systems standards prior to the startup of machinery.
- To report any faults with the plant immediately.
- Checking forklift trucks before operation i.e. battery levels, brakes etc as per the handbook.
- Operate forklift trucks in line with legislation and training programs and maintain housekeeping therein.
- Closing down machinery after manufacturing, cleaning and maintaining equipment.
- Loading batches onto in-feed conveyors.
- Dumping, sieving, stitching, palletising, wrapping, labeling and sampling.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area and support a “team”, work ethic.
- To accurately check and record data onto batch sheets, production logs, weights records, metal detection sheets and other process related documents.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
- Conduct SBA in line with site audit schedule.
Food Safety
- Carry out responsibilities/duties according to food safety, legal and quality requirements so as to ensure that our products are fit for human consumption.
Environment
- Comply with all environmental standards, procedures and work instructions at all times.
- Report any environmental violations or concerns in order to prevent any impact upon the local environment, its inhabitants and Tate & Lyle.
Health & Safety
- Adhere to the safety policies, procedures and site rules.
- Actively participate in local EHS programmes including reporting any incidents or concerns and auditing.
Skills And Experience Required
- Good understanding of machinery and processes
- Ability to follow company policy and procedures.
- Promote safe behaviours.
- Experience and knowledge of food safety requirements and HACCP.
- Positive attitude and commitment.
- Level 2 Food Handling Qualification.
- Experience within a FMCG food environment would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of Food Safety principles advantageous.
- Food industry experience preferable.
- Good understanding of food processing techniques.
- Desirable knowledge of FSSC 22200 and HACCP food processing principles.
- Strong processing and problem solving skills.
