Job Description
SHIFT MAINTENANCE ENGINEER
NORMANTON
Shift: Mon-Fri (1 week days, 1 week afternoons, 1 week nights etc).
ASR Group is the world’s largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar, with an annual production capacity of more than 6 million tons of sugar. The company produces a full line of grocery, industrial, food service and specialty sweetener products. Across North America, ASR Group owns and operates six sugar refineries, located in Louisiana, New York, California, Maryland, Canada and Mexico. In the European Union, the company owns and operates sugar refineries in England, Portugal. ASR Group also owns and operates mills in Mexico and Belize. The company’s brand portfolio includes the leading brands Domino®, C&H®, Redpath®, Tate & Lyle®, Lyle’s® and Sidul®.
Principle Objective:
To provide maintenance support for the Normanton site, as required, to cover absence from work of shift maintenance technicians. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the provision of skilled labour to repair facilities, fabric problems and machinery and to complete continuous improvement activities and preventative maintenance checks plus the installation and testing of new equipment as required.
Job Content (Specific):
- To provide problem-solving expertise and tradesmen’s skills to correct problems relating to facilities, building fabric and production equipment.
- To provide technical expertise within the technician’s area of equipment ownership (buildings and fabric)
- To provide maintenance cover whilst production equipment is operating such that the machines attain continually high operating efficiencies when any shift technicians are absent from work, as required.
- To report any issues with facilities, building fabric and equipment via the reporting system where an immediate fix cannot be made.
- To repair facilities, fabric and production equipment in a safe and timely manner where necessary.
Person Profile:
- Relevant mechanical qualifications to demonstrate mechanical competence.
- Experience of working in a busy manufacturing environment.
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety
- Reliable and self- motivated with the ability to work both under instruction and on own initiative.
- Desire to learn and self-drive to promote an ethos of continual improvement.
- Basic food hygiene training (desireable)
